RADIOSCOPIE

2024

Series of three digital photographs.

Embracing an alchemical approach in the creative process does not necessarily lead to producing a work of art from scratch, just as an artist does not always seek to hold the title of sole author. Often, there is a desire to remove or erase oneself from the creative process in order to allow things to surface in due time, for the elements of a work in progress to reveal themselves at their own pace. This approach was embraced throughout the development of Radioscopie.

Forever chasing light and fascinated by its reflections, here the artist seizes a fortuitous moment. An afternoon sun’s rays shimmer off of a reflective object and are cast onto a wall. Within a few minutes, the light reflections appear, transform as the Earth rotates, then disappear. This series of photographs captures the life cycle of these ghostly and nebulous reflections where light, like writing, outlines its presence and traces its passage. Radioscopie immortalises the intangible all while evoking temporality, reminding the viewer of life’s ephemerality and volatility.
